This is an easy one dish recipe which can be quickly rustled up as a last minute supper. I love the sesame seeds – just be careful to keep an eye on them as they can burn so easily! Serve it up with long grain rice or noodles, whichever you have to hand.
Ingredients
2 tsp sesame oil
1 large orange, juiced and zested
3 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. rice vinegar
2 tbsp. sesame seeds
Good pinch of Chinese 5 spice powder
300g raw king prawns
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 clove garlic thinly sliced
2 spring onions, sliced
Method
- Mix the oil, orange juice and zest, honey and vinegar in a bowl along with the five spice powder and pinch of salt
- Heat the sesame oil in a large wok or frying pan. When it’s very hot add the garlic. Sizzle for a few seconds but do not brown. Add the prawns and sesame seeds to the wok until the prawns are pink and the sesame seeds turn golden.
- Add the sauce to the prawns and heat for around a minute
- Top with spring onions and it’s ready to serve
