Honey, sesame and orange King prawns

This is an easy one dish recipe which can be quickly rustled up as a last minute supper.  I love the sesame seeds – just be careful to keep an eye on them as they can burn so easily!  Serve it up with long grain rice or noodles, whichever you have to hand.

Ingredients

2 tsp sesame oil

1 large orange, juiced and zested

3 tbsp. honey

2 tbsp. soy sauce

1 tbsp. rice vinegar

2 tbsp. sesame seeds

Good pinch of Chinese 5 spice powder

300g raw king prawns

3 tbsp. sunflower oil

1 clove garlic thinly sliced

2 spring onions, sliced

Method

  1. Mix the oil, orange juice and  zest, honey and vinegar in a bowl along with the five spice powder and pinch of salt
  2. Heat the sesame oil in a large wok or frying pan.  When it’s very hot add the garlic.  Sizzle for a few seconds but do not brown.  Add the prawns and sesame seeds to the wok until the prawns are pink and the sesame seeds turn golden.
  3. Add the sauce to the prawns and heat for around a minute
  4. Top with spring onions and it’s ready to serve
